Senior Director of Pathology
Qualifications: Doctoral degree (D.V.M./V.M.D.) from an accredited veterinary school, or acceptable international equivalent in veterinary medicine. 9 or more years of pathology experience post-D.V.M.; working knowledge of clinical pathology; specialized training and/or experience in toxicological pathology required. At least 5 years experience in managing pathologists and/or other professionals required. Expert knowledge of scientific principles and concepts. Strong leadership with sustained performance and accomplishment. Demonstrated success in technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration with others. Able to work on complex problems in which analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. American College of Veterinary Pathologists (A.C.V.P.) board-certification required .
Responsibilities: To manage the pathology department and providing scientific direction to a large staff of pathologists and scientists. Provide scientific expertise and consultation for pathology related issues to internal and external clients. Provide scientific oversight, ensure adherence to GLP regulations, and ensure quality of work by ensuring training, technical guidance, leadership. Review data, reports, and the processes. Ensure customer satisfaction, scientific performance and regulatory compliance, and oversee the scientific conduct of studies in the anatomic pathology laboratory. Oversee macroscopic and microscopic pathology evaluation and interpretation of assigned studies. May assist with necropsy supervision and oversee necropsies, including gross pathology interpretation, sample collection and fixation. Ensure pathology findings captured in data collection system. Write and review comprehensive report narratives detailing all test article effects. Work with study directors to ensure data is accurately integrated into study reports. Function as a peer review pathologist or participate in a pathology working group as a pathologist.
